Our vision is to see a society where those with a Dementia diagnosis are enabled to “live well” with the support of a Dementia friendly community.
Northstar’s Compass Guide to Dementia Care:
An online platform for Dementia Caregivers
There are estimated to be more than 3000 people diagnosed with Dementia in Bermuda. 80% of Dementia Care is undertaken by unpaid family members who report high levels of caregiver stress & burnout.
Caring for a loved one experiencing cognitive decline can be particularly challenging. They may not be aware of the difficulties they are experiencing, and may be resistant to offers of assistance from others. Many caregivers describe their experiences as being a “constantly moving target” with every day bringing new challenges and learning. We want you to know you are not alone in this journey.
On September 21st, 2023, as the world observed World Alzheimer’s Day, local organisation, Northstar Dementia, launched “The Compass Guide to Dementia Care: An online education, support and coaching platform for dementia caregivers”. This free 12 week online coaching course will equip you with the knowledge, strategies, and mindset to confidently care for your loved one with Dementia.
AAD is proud to partner with Northstar Dementia and promote this invaluable resource for our community.
